3 weeks special Advanced Thai Massage
Itzhak Helman, one of Sunshine Network's most experienced Teachers, shares his life's work in this 3-week workshop.
From November 17th until December 5th, 2025.
Using the general structure of our Beginner's program as a starting point, this workshop features extensive revisions drawn from the instructor's 25 years of treatment, teaching, and continuous education.
This course offers a valuable opportunity for serious practitioners to enrich their Thai Massage therapist toolbox, addressing classic problems while mindfully practicing fundamental principles.
Diagnosis through the structure
Throughout these three transformative weeks, you'll explore the skills of diagnosis and observation - learning to visually interpret body language, assess muscular balance, and identify tension patterns.
This advanced course guides you in materializing a clear pathway of elements and events that will inform and enhance your massage practice, allowing you to create more personalized, effective treatments for each recipient. Many techniques taught or deepened here are particularly well-adapted for less flexible and aging clients.
In the spirit of Asokanada and Pichest
This course is taught as a sequence that will sometimes feel familiar based on what you have learned at Sunshine, but with a very specific focus on the different topics below and on how to apply in real time what you have learned.
In Itzhak's style, following his teacher's traditions, each day will start with a bit of singing, history, and context before concentrating on diagnosis and the techniques at hand.
1st week : Thai massage for lower back conditions
Restoring lost rhythm and mobility in the lumbar spine
A strong majority of our clients come with issues related to the lower back. This course helps build a Thai Massage therapist toolbox around these problems.
Focused on the lower body, we will work through the feet, the lumbar area, pelvis sacroiliac joint, and the energy lines.
A practical way to better understand traditional techniques in the framework of lower back problems. A rich and useful exploration with a long time practitioner sharing his actual experience of thousands of treatments in real conditions.
The material and the approach of this first week is clearly inspired by Osteothai, from David Lutt and Arnaud l’Hermite.
2nd Week : Whole massage in Side position
One of the foundational principles of this week is that an entire massage can theoretically be performed entirely using the side position—a valuable approach when working with clients who cannot comfortably lie on their back or stomach.
Drawing inspiration from the dynamic style of Adjan Chaiyut, this week emphasizes fluid movement and targeted therapeutic applications:
Lower Back Therapy:
Learn precision techniques to release tension patterns and improve mobility in one of the body's most commonly troubled areas.
Shoulder Complex:
Master therapeutic approaches that effectively address the intricate relationship between muscles, tendons, and fascia in the shoulder region.
Neck Integration:
Discover gentle yet powerful methods for creating balance and freedom in the cervical spine and its supporting structures.
Hip Mobilization:
Explore dynamic techniques that restore proper function to this crucial joint, influencing overall posture and movement patterns.
3rd week : Focus on the spine
During the final week of our advanced program, we shift focus to the central axis of the body—the spine and its related structures.
This critical phase of the course integrates principles from both Traditional Thai Massage and Osteopathy to create a comprehensive approach to spinal health.
You will learn specialized techniques for working with the sternum, shoulders, shoulder blades, and meninges—structures that profoundly influence spinal function.
The week begins with what appears to be a traditional back massage sequence, but quickly evolves into a highly specific exploration focused on three critical areas:
The Neck:
Advanced techniques for releasing cervical tension patterns and improving mobility while respecting the delicate structures of this region.
The Spinal Cord and Meninges:
Understanding the role of these vital neurological structures and how gentle work can influence overall nervous system function.
Spinal Conditions and Pathologies:
Recognizing common spinal issues and learning appropriate modifications and approaches to provide safe, effective care.
An important influence in this 3 weeks comes from the Craniosacral approach.
